Safe Control Road har etfalloddfor bæreevnemåling av veier. Utstyret er meget godt egnet ved planlegging av forsterkning av veier, for å finne ut hvor mye det er nødvendig å forsterke. Det kan også benyttes til å fastlegge tillatt bruksklasse for tungtransport.
Målingen foretas ved at et lodd slippes ned på en plate. Kraften tilsvarer omtrent vekten på et lastebilhjul. Belastningsplaten har en diameter på 30 cm, tilsvarende et lastebilhjul. Nedbøyning registreres av sensorer i forskjellig avstand fra belastningsplaten. Nedbøyning i sensorer lenger fra plata indikerer svakheter lenger ned i konstruksjonen. Måleavstand varierer fra 10-50 meter avhengig av formålet. Hvert målepunkt tar ca. 1 minutt.
Skal dere forsterke veier, eller asfaltere veier med kort dekkelevetid, vil det ofte lønne seg å foreta bæreevnemålinger på forhånd for å optimalisere bruken av pengene. Asfalt koster gjerne koster 500 kr pr løpemeter veg (5 m bredde og 4 cm tykkelse). Kostnad for bæreevnemåling tilsvarer kun noen få millimeter asfalt, og vil raskt tjenes inn ved å forsterke med riktig tiltak og på riktig sted.
